Just Before
You will receive an email a few days before your launch. This email will contain the go-live instructions including the A-record you’ll point your domain to. Please do not update your domain’s settings sooner, as we are coordinating support on the SportsEngine side.
Night before launch:
- Login to your DNS registrar and update the A-record (more details below)
- Please email a screenshot of the A-record update to diamondallegiance@sportsengine.com. Know that the SportsEngine team will need to make a few updates to finalize the process.
The records should look like this (you will have a different a-record):
Site record | Record Type | A record |
domain.com | A | 192.0.66.182 |
www. | A | 192.0.66.182 |
Launch
Day of your scheduled launch, SportsEngine will be updating additional settings at noon CST and we will communicate with you along the way.
- If your domain URL is currently controlled with custom nameservers, you will need to reset the nameservers that your current site is hosting elsewhere, back to the domain provider.
Propagation (new settings taking effect across the internet) for the new site as well as the site’s security certificate may take up to 24 hours. SportsEngine will be actively verifying stable sites and will send you a confirmation email once your new site is fully stable and live.
Many factors influence when your new site will display for a new visitor– browser cache, website cache, device type, using wifi, using data — but over the next 24-72 hours, your new website will display to the world!
Do not schedule press releases/social media posts until propagation is confirmed (we will email you.)
After Launch
- Connect Instagram account and add Latest Posts block to the home
Instagram Instructions
Latest Instagram Posts
The Latest Instagram Posts block allows you to connect your Instagram account to automatically display and update your list of latest posts from Instagram, to any page on your website.
In order to use it you must first add the block and then Connect to WordPress.com. This will redirect you to create a WordPress account.
Once logged in or you create a new account, the block will convert to show your connected Instagram account options. Once selecting your preferred account, click Connect to Instagram.
Now you are ready to update your Display Settings as needed. You can change Number of Posts, Number of Columns, Image Spacing (px), and Stack on Mobile. Keep in mind you can also assign additional CSS classes as needed.
- Add Google Analytics (Customizer –> Tracking Scripts and Snippets)
- Continue to update content throughout the site to keep it relevant and meaningful to your users
